There are many considerations that play into a well designed road such as the evaluation of property for proposed right of way dedication, complete land surveys and technical studies, proposed roadway alignments including horizontal and vertical curve design, proposed earthwork, cuts and fills, structural design of subgrades and pavement sections. In addition roads will often require intersection design, signalization, signage and striping, street lighting, stormwater collection and conveyance, and utility placement within the road.
